Crate Creature Puppet – Experiment 46

Crate creature is the result of an alien race and mother nature converging in swampy area in Southern Louisiana. VFX took a trip down to a Haunt convention in February of 2015, as there was traffic on I-10 South, our GPS re-routed us onto some back roads. There were no other vehicles on the route, and it was starting to rain.
That’s when things started to get weird. We saw a glow ahead of us just through some trees, and we continued on our re-routed path the GPS had taken us on. As we neared the area the strange gleam was emitting from a bolt of green lightening leaped from the earth to the clouds. At that moment our vehicle stalled out and rolled to a stop. As we were trying to restart our SUV we could hear some sounds like an animal struggling just beyond some trees. Against our better judgement, we decided to investigate the strange sounds. When we  got closer we noticed a small wooden shack, maybe someones hunting clubhouse, with a bunch of boxes and crates stacked on the back porch. Just next to the shack was a crater, and as we peered over the edge we noticed this fleshy furry thing stuck in the mud, struggling and laughing as it tired. We grabbed a crate from the back porch of the nearby shack, and trapped it inside, and put it in the back of the vehicle. As soon as we put this crate creature in the SUV it started right up.
We continued on our way, with crate creature Experiment 46 tucked into the back of the Vehicle. Steve Millers “The Joker” came on the radio and the Crate Creature appeared to be singing along. When the song got to the line “Some people call me Maurice” the crate creature popped up and and smiled with his big fangs. We’ve kept this experience a secret until now.
